About The Position

The Instructional Designer at Central Arizona College will enhance the educational experience by collaborating with faculty and stakeholders to improve course design and management strategies aimed at increasing student retention. This role emphasizes the application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to create accessible instructional materials and provide training to faculty. The designer will integrate innovative educational technologies and pedagogical approaches to foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment for a diverse student population.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or a related discipline.
  • Two years of related instructional design experience in online or hybrid learning environments.
  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and best practices for course design and pedagogy.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards, including WCAG.
  • Experience in integrating technology with education and instructional design methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and implementation of professional development trainings utilizing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) for faculty.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and improve course content, design, and management strategies to enhance student retention.
  • Develop plans for assessing course content accessibility using UDL and other technologies to promote equity and inclusion.
  • Work with the IT Manager for Learning Technology and the Director of Faculty Teaching and Learning to analyze instructional and technology needs.
  • Provide training for faculty and staff in distance learning best practices and instructional design methodologies.
  • Integrate Blackboard and other collaborative technologies in a dynamic technological environment.
  • Collaborate with CAC stakeholders to align efforts with grant objectives and ensure successful implementation.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $50,418.00 - $53,443.08 annually.
