About the position

The Instructional Designer at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is responsible for collaborating with instructors and educational technologists to design and develop high-quality online courses for both degree and non-degree programs. This role focuses on ensuring that course materials meet educational objectives and provide an effective learning experience for students. The Instructional Designer applies evidence-based pedagogy, utilizes educational technology tools, and implements project management practices to enhance course delivery and assessment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with instructors and educational technologists to design and develop online courses.
• Ensure high-quality course materials are created that fulfill educational objectives.
• Apply evidence-based pedagogy and educational technology tools in course design.
• Consult with faculty to analyze learning needs and apply instructional design models.
• Develop course and program assessment methods and create engaging instructional activities.
• Meet accessibility and compliance requirements in course design.
• Assess the effective utilization of innovative instructional technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience with online education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated project management experience.
• Experience managing educational technology pilots or research experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of educational pedagogy, particularly in online teaching and learning.
• Experience developing learning material using tools like Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Premiere, or Camtasia.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree related to learning/instructional design/technology.
• 3+ years in the design and development of innovative online learning courses and curricula.
• Experience working with educational technology vendors.
• Experience with STEM subjects.
