About the position

The Instructional Designer for the Health and Specialty Care System (HSCS) is responsible for designing and developing engaging training content for a diverse workforce. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to create instructor-led and computer-based training programs, ensuring they meet the needs of multi-generational and multi-cultural staff. The position emphasizes exceptional customer service, continuous improvement, and adherence to adult learning principles.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, designs, and develops engaging, interactive, and effective instructor-led and computer-based training content or programs.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts or team members to formulate learning objectives and assess training needs.
  • Delivers high-quality instructor-led training sessions in person, virtually, or in a hybrid environment.
  • Creates visually appealing and user-friendly training materials that include graphics, videos, and interactive elements.
  • Participates in evaluating training and curriculum to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinates scheduling and logistics with stakeholders and prepares classrooms for optimal learning environments.
  • Stays up to date on all laws, rules, policies, and procedures related to training and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in instructional design, education, human resources, organizational development, or related field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of recent experience as a trainer or instructional designer.
  • At least 1 year experience using Microsoft Office Suite or e-learning software such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360, or similar to create training content.
  • Knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and learning theories.
  • Ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adhere to project timelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in providing interactive and engaging training sessions, workshops, and webinars.
  • Proficient in use of training technologies.
  • Skill in formulating learning objectives and creating engaging curriculum and training materials tailored to diverse audiences.
