The University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) is seeking an Instructional Designer to join the Office of Online Learning. This position plays a crucial role in supporting SHRS departments in the development of fully online or hybrid degree-granting programs and certificates, as well as continuing education initiatives. The Instructional Designer will consult with educators on the design, development, and delivery of moderately complex instructional materials, ensuring the effective integration of instructional technologies. This role is essential in analyzing the effectiveness of curricula and instructional materials, recommending changes, and creating comprehensive course development plans. The Instructional Designer will also be responsible for editing course materials and selecting appropriate technologies for course development, contributing to the overall quality and effectiveness of online learning experiences. The Office of Online Learning is dedicated to disseminating best practices for online learning across the school and leading various internal projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in higher education instructional design, with a preference for candidates who have at least 35 years of experience in the field. This position requires a special expertise or ability to perform job duties that are highly specialized, and it is critical to separate the function from the method of performing the function. The role also involves physical demands, including the ability to sit or stand for long periods and lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
