About the position

The Instructional Systems Designer I position is a critical role within C2 Technologies, Inc., focusing on the development of Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) training solutions. This position supports various ISD initiatives and reports directly to a Program Manager, who provides day-to-day supervision and guidance for career development. The primary responsibility of the ISD I is to apply the ISD methodology to create effective training solutions that meet the needs of clients and stakeholders. In this role, the ISD I will conduct comprehensive analyses, including Needs Analysis, Job/Task Analysis, and Front-End Analysis, to inform the design and development of training materials. The designer will be responsible for creating detailed design plans for various formats, including paper-based training, Interactive Video Training (IVT), video, and Web-Based Training (WBT). This includes developing clear learning objectives, determining functionality and navigation strategies, and documenting the minimum technical specifications required for both users and clients. The ISD I will also define learning strategies, content flow, testing and evaluation requirements, and interactivity, ensuring that all courseware functionality is well-planned and executed. Additionally, the ISD I will develop instructor and student guides, scripts, and storyboards that encompass all necessary content and themes. This involves defining media elements such as graphics, animations, video, and audio, as well as writing narration scripts and planning sound effects. Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) is essential to ensure that the training materials are accurate and effective. The ISD I will also be expected to create reports and design plans within specified timeframes, demonstrating the ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Creates design plan for training projects (paper, CBT, WBT, video, DVD)
  • Develops concepts/themes and instructional strategies for projects
  • Creates reports, design plans, and storyboards within the timeframe given with little or no supervision
  • Interacts with customer SMEs without supervision
  • Advises Task Lead or Project Manager of scope issues
  • Works on a variety of assignments on an as-needed basis
  • Can conduct every facet of the ISD process with little supervision and guidance
  • Facilitates data collection meetings to ensure the acquisition of all required and relevant data
  • Leverages sound instructional design, prevailing learning theories, and performance improvement processes using the ADDIE Instructional Model
  • Reviews technical guidance and works with SMEs to extract technical instructional content to support learning objectives
  • Participates in creative and technical development teams to identify appropriate and innovative IMI solutions
  • Proactively engages stakeholders to successfully accomplish schedule milestones
  • Uses rapid authoring tools like Adobe Captivate and/or Articulate Storyline to develop courseware is a plus
  • Works with other ISDs, Project Manager, and other development team members to meet production, quality, and schedule requirements
  • Ensures 100% of own work output complies with requirements and quality standards
  • Organizes course content in accordance with instructional design plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Systems Design, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Instructional Technology, or related field
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
  • 1-2 years of training-related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the Instructional Systems Design model to design, develop, plan, and organize training programs and IMI learning solutions
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience of the ISD process in the development of instructor-led, web-based training (WBT) and blended learning solutions
  • Ability to develop instructionally sound learning solutions and testing materials with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to apply creative instructional themes and strategies to a variety of delivery media, including classroom and online
  • Effective communication skills in the interaction with the client, project team, and senior management
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Excellent writing skills
