About the position

The Instructional Systems Designer at Leidos will play a crucial role in developing and delivering effective training materials and multimedia content for the FAA Academy. This position involves collaborating with the Policy and Administration group to ensure that training objectives are met through innovative and engaging learning solutions. The designer will utilize industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance the quality of training videos and eLearning courses, ensuring compliance with federal standards and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver a detailed Project Schedule Plan for each deliverable, including project requirements and milestones.
  • Develop a plan and strategy for creating micro-learning training videos and role-based training courses.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in multimedia production to enhance training quality.
  • Collect feedback from training video viewers and stakeholders, analyze performance metrics, and improve future productions.
  • Produce and edit videos, assembling text, audio, voiceover, music, video, graphics, and animation for presentations and learning materials.
  • Maintain and tag the media repository with created and collected media.
  • Create or integrate visual graphics and interactive multimedia using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Create a Course Design Guide based on approved content from the Program Manager.
  • Ensure courseware is free of harmful elements and compliant with Section 508 standards and SCORM requirements.
  • Draft training design and storyboards demonstrating interface design and layout.
  • Create course materials including user guides, instructor guides, and lesson plans with multimedia components.
  • Develop a Pilot version of courseware for interactive content and knowledge checks.
  • Create reports such as Walk-thru reports and Pilot Feedback Reports.
  • Ensure eLearning courseware compatibility with the FAA Learning Management System (eLMS).
  • Draft lesson plans for the eLMS and create Train-the-trainer sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience as an Instructional Systems Designer.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft products.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards and SCORM compliance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Blackboard and SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Familiarity with usability and intellectual property law.
