About the position

The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer Intern will work within the Energy & Industrial Group at Sargent & Lundy, assisting the engineering team on various projects related to oil & gas upstream production, gas transmission and distribution, renewable energy, and carbon capture. This internship provides an opportunity to apply and enhance academic knowledge in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering while gaining practical experience in engineering calculations, project reporting, and system design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
  • Work on project reporting tasks, including tracking and evaluating project activities and progress.
  • Be involved in system designs and prepare specifications for the procurement of major industrial energy equipment.

Requirements

  • Expected graduation date in Winter 2025 or Spring 2026 with a Bachelor or Masters of Science degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior, related internship or co-op experience.
