About the position

The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer position offers an opportunity to apply and enhance your academic background in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering within the oil and gas sector. The role involves collaborating with project teams to design new upstream and midstream facilities, focusing on various engineering tasks such as P&ID development, control panel design, and preparation of specifications for instrumentation and controls equipment. The position also includes client interaction, participation in design reviews, and opportunities for professional development through mentoring and training.

Responsibilities

  • Work on project teams with other I&C engineers to design upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities.
  • Develop P&IDs, I/O Lists, Control Panel Designs, and C&E documentation.
  • Create Control Narratives, Network Architectures, Cable Schedules, and Location Plans.
  • Prepare specifications for procurement of instrumentation and controls equipment and related installation services.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews.
  • Collaborate directly with client representatives to address questions related to Instrumentation and Controls design.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs.

Requirements

  • BS and/or MS degree in Electrical Engineering with coursework in analog and digital control systems.
  • 6+ years of relevant oil and gas or industrial experience.
  • Understanding of instrumentation and controls engineering principles and their practical application.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially MS Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans and drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with SCADA and Radio Networks.
