About the position

The Insurance Verification & Claims Specialist at Westchase Diagnostic Imaging Center is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and managing claims processes. This role requires a strong background in medical coding and insurance verification, ensuring accurate communication with insurance companies and efficient handling of patient records.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance coverage for medical services
• Use Availity, Collaborate MD, or other verification platforms
• Understand insurance follow-up processes including billing, collections, claims, and commercial practices
• Communicate with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorizations and verify benefits
• Update and input patient records and file claims based on required timelines
• Resolve discrepancies or issues related to insurance coverage and claims
• Proficiently use computer systems and software for data entry and record-keeping
• Perform daily office tasks, including answering phones and checking patients in
• Collaborate with the billing team to resolve insurance-related issues
• Demonstrate attention to detail and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
• Work as a team-oriented individual and perform other related duties assigned by management

Requirements

• 1 year of experience in insurance verification (preferred)
• Knowledge of medical coding, ICD-9, and CPD codes
• Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
• Knowledge of filling out CMS-1500 forms and claims
• Proficiency in navigating insurance websites and portals
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients, providers, and insurance companies
