About the position

The Intelligent Transportation Systems Technician at TAPCO is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and maintaining various solar-powered and AC-powered safety systems. This role requires strong problem-solving skills to diagnose issues in electrical, mechanical, wireless, cellular modems, and computer systems, and involves significant fieldwork, including roadside tasks and frequent travel throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of electronic, computer, communication, network, and other systems.
• Safely operate related tools and equipment.
• Provide technical phone support to customers, contractors, distributors, and TAPCO employees.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment, diagnosing electronic failures to the board level.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare field reports.
• Communicate effectively and establish working relationships with employees, contractors, and customers.
• Implement and manage software and firmware changes.
• Install new software and hardware onto various devices.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in electronics or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Two years of industry experience in field service and troubleshooting.
• Good working knowledge of electronic, electromechanical, and electrical power principles, including testing of components in DC and AC circuits.
