About the position

The Interdisciplinary Community Planner - General Engineer - Architect position at Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) involves serving as a Project Planner within the Planning Design and Construction Directorate. The role focuses on providing consultation to clients regarding existing assets and land, leading multi-functional teams, and developing project documentation. The planner will identify and validate mission requirements and facilitate meetings among senior-level Navy personnel to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation to clients with recommendations and plans for existing assets or land.
  • Lead multi-functional teams as project scope is identified and implemented.
  • Develop project documentation (DD 1391) including project scope, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and validate Warfighter and supporting command emergent and long-term mission requirements.
  • Facilitate meetings among large groups and resolve controversial issues among senior-level Navy personnel.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience in providing consultation to clients with recommendations and plans for existing assets or land.
  • Ability to make recommendations based on sound economic analysis, identifying opportunities, costs, risks, and payback for innovative approaches to Shore Installation Management.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying technical matters and planning concepts, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in leading multi-functional teams and balancing multiple projects and priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
