About The Position

The Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) at PointClickCare is responsible for managing and maintaining the cloud-based database infrastructure that supports the company's mission-critical SaaS applications. This role focuses on improving processes through automation and coding to minimize operational toil, while collaborating with engineering and SRE teams to support new product launches requiring database assistance. The DBRE will ensure observability of database metrics, implement performance improvements, and provide support for database migrations and optimizations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with relational database systems.
• 1+ years in a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role.
• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure; Azure preferred).
• Proficiency in coding and automation.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Familiarity with source control systems like GIT.
• Preferred experience with SQL Server; MySQL and PostgreSQL are nice to have.
• Experience managing very large databases (VLDBs) of 1+ TB and a large number of databases (100+).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as PowerShell, C#, SQL, and Python.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Git, Jira, Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Grafana, InfluxDB, and NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Manage, build, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-based database infrastructure.
• Work on observability of relevant database metrics to meet desired objectives.
• Collaborate with the DBA team to identify areas of toil and implement automation processes.
• Implement a data-driven approach to enhance performance and availability of stakeholder database systems.
• Provide database support to engineering and SRE teams, including reviewing migrations and optimizing queries.
• Assist the DBA team in performance troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
