About the position

Denali Therapeutics is seeking an Intern for the Bioprocess Development group in Technical Operations. This hands-on laboratory position focuses on optimizing conditions for Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cell lines to express complex therapeutic proteins. The intern will gain exposure to suspension cell culture and single-use bioreactors, providing an overview of biologics process development and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Work under supervision of Denali scientists to design, execute and interpret cell culture experiments
  • Perform and analyze shake flask and lab-scale bioreactor fed-batch production experiments
  • Learn to use cell culture lab instruments such as Vi-Cell, Nova Flex2 and Octet
  • Analyze results, write summary report and present work to Technical operations group
  • Accurate and timely recording of work time by clocking in and out using designated timekeeping systems.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in BS or MS in Biology, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory skills such as pipetting, material weighting, etc.
  • Previous hands-on lab experience with mammalian cell culture including aseptic techniques is highly desired
  • Energetic, self-motivated with ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, analyze and interpret experimental data
