About The Position

Geosyntec is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a Civil/Environmental Engineering student from the University of Pittsburgh. This position allows students to apply their academic knowledge in real-world engineering scenarios while gaining essential business skills for a successful consulting career. The internship is full-time for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer or fall semester of 2025, with the possibility of returning for additional semesters. Candidates will need to arrange their own transportation to the office.

Requirements

• Currently registered in a Bachelor's or Master's university degree program in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication and problem-solving skills.
• Valid U.S. driver's license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites.
• Current student at University of Pittsburgh.

Nice To Haves

• Degree focus area in civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, or water resources engineering.
• Upper division (e.g. sophomore, or junior) or Master's enrollment.
• Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, and drilling and contractor oversight.
• Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools.
• Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
• Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
• Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators (draftsmen), contractors, and construction personnel.
• Local travel or driving to project sites as needed.
