About the position

Energy Transfer's Public Affairs department is seeking an intern for the 2025 summer to work alongside our team of six professionals across Pennsylvania. This is a twelve (12) week paid internship program beginning May 2025. The position is based in our Newtown Square office, and interns will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of projects, events, and initiatives in the areas of community relations, government and regulatory affairs, public relations, and more. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage and organize a number of tasks. The intern will support our team of six Public Affairs professionals, who are based across Pennsylvania and cover the entire Northeast United States, in a variety of efforts and initiatives. Interns will engage in community outreach, helping to identify opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, donations, or volunteer hours, and assisting in the planning and execution of events as applicable. They will also help coordinate and execute tours of company facilities for external stakeholders, assist in planning and executing public meetings for projects and permit applications, and contribute to content development by drafting social media and blog content to highlight company projects and community initiatives. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about Public Affairs work through light travel, accompanying team members to events such as state regulatory and legislative meetings in Harrisburg, industry events and seminars, community events sponsored by the company, check presentations for donations or grants, and emergency response trainings with first responders. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience in the field of Public Affairs, while also contributing to the company's community engagement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Public Affairs team in various projects and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for community engagement and respond to requests for partnerships, sponsorships, donations, or volunteer hours.
  • Help plan and execute events related to community engagement.
  • Coordinate and execute tours of company facilities for external stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing public meetings for projects and permit applications.
  • Draft social media and blog content to highlight company projects and community initiatives.
  • Implement new and better ways to track outreach and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with an expected graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and proficiency in Excel.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Involvement in activities outside of academic studies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in/knowledge of the energy industry is preferable, but not required.
