About the position

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is seeking a Marketing & Communications Intern to join its Planning and Operations Division within the MarCom Project Management Branch. This paid internship is designed for undergraduate students and will take place from October 7, 2024, to December 13, 2024. The intern will work virtually, contributing approximately 15 hours per week to support the Museum's mission of Holocaust remembrance and education. The intern will report directly to the Manager of MarCom Project Management and will assist in managing a collaborative process for the implementation of various projects that align with the Museum's priorities. In this role, the intern will be responsible for assisting project managers in tracking project deliverables, ensuring that timelines are accurate and achievable. The intern will update and maintain project schedules using Smartsheet, assess project risks in collaboration with project managers, and create reports to facilitate project tracking. Additionally, the intern will schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and take notes during discussions. A key responsibility will also include developing a Communication Plan for the branch in conjunction with the Manager. Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers with tracking deliverables for projects, ensuring timelines are correct and can be met
  • Update and maintain project schedules in Smartsheet
  • Assess risks for projects with the project managers
  • Build reports in Smartsheet to assist in tracking projects
  • Schedule meetings, create agendas, and take notes during meetings
  • Create a Communication Plan for the branch with the Manager

Requirements

  • Education in marketing, communications, and/or project management is required
  • Project management work experience can be used in place of education
  • Excellent communication skills - verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of databases and spreadsheets in order to track deliverables
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Nice-to-haves

  • Education in marketing, communications, and/or project management is preferred or commensurate experience
  • Knowledge of Smartsheet is preferred
