The Electrical Engineering Services and Systems global service team is one of the largest and most experienced teams of power system professionals in the industry. As a Field Service Engineer Intern, you will be involved in projects that have a measurable impact on our business. This internship is structured to provide you with hands-on experience in electrical power distribution equipment, where you will deliver technical solutions to customers and perform complex engineering assignments that may include equipment design, testing of materials, and research investigations. Throughout your internship, you will gain knowledge in various areas such as Test Equipment Operation, Troubleshooting Techniques, Protective Relays, Power Quality Measurements, and more. You will also be responsible for generating timely and accurate service reports on work, product performance, and warranties. This internship will not only prepare you for technical roles but also for future leadership positions at Eaton, as you will receive a structured training and development curriculum that includes instructor-led sessions, virtual classrooms, eLearning courses, and on-the-job training from expert mentors.

Responsibilities

  • Work on assigned projects for electrical power distribution equipment
  • Deliver technical solutions to customers
  • Perform less conventional complex engineering assignments that may involve equipment or product design, testing of materials, process studies, or research investigations
  • Gain knowledge in Test Equipment Operation, Troubleshooting Techniques, Protective Relays, Power Quality Measurements, Disaster Recovery, Rotating Machinery, Protection & Control Design
  • Generate timely and accurate service reports on work, product performance, and warranties

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • Must be geographically flexible to relocate within the United States
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Nice-to-haves

  • Actively enrolled in or received a bachelor's degree program in an electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering program from an accredited institution
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community
  • Prior electrical/power industry related experience
  • Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems
