About the position

The Intervention Specialist at Oakstone Community School is responsible for providing individualized education to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This role focuses on implementing empirically-based curriculum and instructional strategies to help students develop academic and self-management skills in a supportive and interactive environment. The specialist will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to ensure effective learning and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct lessons.
• Manage students' behavior in the class.
• Maintain a safe and efficient classroom environment.
• Evaluate students' work and progress.
• Communicate with parents.
• Assess student needs and recommend appropriate interventions when needed.
• Develop lesson plans in accordance with school policy.

Requirements

• Valid Special Education Certification license in Ohio.
• Experience in teaching, particularly with students with disabilities.
• Strong understanding of content in Science courses for middle and high school levels.

Nice-to-haves

• Dual license holders (Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Intensive) preferred.
• Differentiation skills for working with students of varying ability levels.
• Ability to delegate tasks to team members such as teacher aids and other content lead teachers.
