About the position

The Inventory Planner for Baby Gear at Pottery Barn Kids is responsible for strategically managing inventory to enhance customer experience and drive sales. This role involves collaboration with various teams to optimize inventory levels, ensure timely execution of purchase orders, and meet financial targets. The position requires a proactive approach to inventory management, focusing on balancing new and core merchandise while supporting overall business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Merchants to create pre-season, item-level sales plans that align with product rankings and financial goals.
  • Design inventory strategies that balance new and core merchandise, supporting in-stock and turn objectives.
  • Determine item level order quantities and flow strategies, ensuring timely execution of purchase orders.
  • Review catalog proofs for accuracy of SKU information and representation of key items.
  • Recommend actions for items at risk of backorder.
  • Own monthly forecasting of department level open-to-buy and recommend actions to achieve sales goals.
  • Determine markdown and end-of-life strategies for non-go forward products.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in retail merchandising or a degree in merchandising preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience in Inventory Management, preferably in e-commerce.
  • Proven ability to interpret data and extract actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in retail math and managing a traditional open-to-buy.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Ability to work onsite in the San Francisco office Monday - Thursday and remotely on Fridays.
