About the position

DataStaff, Inc. is seeking an IT Asset Manager for a long-term contract opportunity located in Cary, NC. This position is onsite and requires a detail-oriented and experienced Senior IT Asset Analyst with a strong background in ServiceNow. The ideal candidate will have 5-6 years of experience in IT Asset Management. The Senior IT Asset Analyst will uphold the highest standards of hardware and software asset management set forth by the organization and will be responsible for the business practices that join financial, contractual, and inventory functions to support life cycle management and support the strategic plan for the IT environment. The key responsibilities include performing hardware asset administration by identifying and tracking designated IT assets, their locations, and owners. The candidate will track hardware life-cycles for leasing and regular replacement of aged equipment, determine hardware standards to align with industry best practices and organizational trends, and manage the CMDB relationships for the current inventory. Additionally, the role involves making acquisition recommendations for hardware based on predetermined thresholds and reporting on hardware inventory and service locations. The use of tools like Absolute, ServiceNow Discovery, and PDQ Inventory to determine and query hardware/software connected to the domain is essential. The candidate will also be responsible for installing/pushing new software and patching current software as needed. In terms of software license management, the candidate will perform software license administration by using supplied tools to track software, manage the CMDB, monitor software renewals and subscriptions, and engage in licensing best practices. Developing and maintaining the license management database and standardization for CI's, participating in licensing audits, and ensuring licenses are compliant with vendor usage are also key aspects of this role. The candidate will lead the asset management team in building a repository of software licenses and purchase documentation for compliance and risk aversion. The position also requires identifying opportunities for improving asset management processes and implementing best practices, developing and documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs) for IT asset management, and assisting in the development and implementation of asset management policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware asset administration by identifying and tracking designated IT assets, their locations, and owners.

  • Identify opportunities for improving asset management processes and implement best practices.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for IT asset management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of asset management policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-6 years of experience in IT Asset Management.
  • Proven experience with ServiceNow, including asset management and reporting.
  • Experience auditing hardware and software assets.
  • Knowledge of software and hardware terminology to include licensing requirements.
  • Knowledge of purchasing ordering systems, billing, and invoicing.
  • Ability to create queries or filters to identify specific hardware and software, as needed.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written skills within IT and our customers/Vendors.
  • Ability to work as a team to contribute to a positive environment.
  • Strong documentation and process development skills required.
  • Prioritize projects and tasks to meet deadlines as decided by IT Leadership.

Nice-to-haves
