About the position

The IT Customer Support Specialist provides essential support to Huntsville Hospital users, ensuring high-quality customer service and technical expertise. This role serves as the first point of contact for resolving various technical issues, including telephone, wiring, hardware, application, or system problems. The specialist is responsible for problem resolution, routing calls to appropriate support personnel, and managing IT support work orders and projects. Additionally, the specialist organizes and directs training on office automation products for hospital employees and network clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality support to Huntsville Hospital users with a high degree of customer service and technical expertise.
  • Resolve telephone, wiring, hardware, application, or system issues as the first point of contact.
  • Route calls to appropriate support personnel or open work orders as necessary.
  • Advocate for users in all support interactions.
  • Assist with the coordination of IT support work orders and projects.
  • Manage, organize, plan, and direct training on Huntsville Hospital office automation products.
  • Provide effective training support for network clients, hospital employees, and affiliates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university (may consider job-related experience in lieu of degree).
  • Extensive customer service experience required.
  • Health field experience desirable.
  • Previous help desk experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience with Windows 95/98/2000 and MS Office products required.
  • Advanced communication skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of office automation products, such as word processors, mail systems, and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) operating systems.
  • Ability to analyze and coordinate multiple technologies and concepts effectively.
