About the position

The IT Cybersecurity Specialist (PLCYPLN-INFOSEC) position at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) involves managing information technology projects with a focus on cybersecurity. The role requires collaboration across IT program teams, drafting communications, and preparing reports for stakeholders. The position is critical in ensuring the security and efficiency of IT systems within the Coast Guard's Transport Services Branch.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cybersecurity and information technology projects including planning, budgeting, configuration, implementation, and integration of networked systems.
  • Draft written communication to various stakeholder groups, including technical writing and IT project documentation.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration across IT program teams to identify actual or potential problems, trends, and opportunities within projects and programs.
  • Review reports to identify issues or variances and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Work with customers, stakeholders, sponsors, and other IT service providers to elicit requirements, resources, and prioritization.
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative reports concerning assigned IT projects for supervisors and senior management.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector.
  • Experience working with IT infrastructure projects, providing advice on costs, design concepts, and/or design changes.
  • Experience working with customers, stakeholders, sponsors, and other IT service providers to elicit requirements, resources, and prioritization.
  • Experience participating in collaborative IT teams in a mixed environment and integrated product teams focused on organizational strategic issues and initiatives.
  • Experience preparing and presenting IT project briefs and technical proposals to supervisors and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level II (FAC P/PM-II) or equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
  • Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-II) or equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
