About the position

The IT Help Desk Technician at Berkshire Hathaway Automotive is responsible for providing quality technical support and customer service to all customers within the organization. This full-time, in-office role is based at the headquarters in Irving, Texas, and involves assisting users with technical issues related to Windows environments, applications, and hardware. The position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for the determination, resolution, or escalation of technical problems related to Windows environments and applications, electronic mail, security issues, desktop hardware/software, server hardware/software, and production equipment related issues.
  • Provides Application How To Support for popular PC applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft OS, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, and Internet Browsers.
  • Creates/removes logon credentials from various in-house systems including Microsoft Active Directory, Cisco Call Manager, and Third Party Systems.
  • Works from a ticket queue to complete work orders in a timely manner to meet department and customer service objectives.
  • Answers incoming customer calls and provides assistance by phone in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Sets up and installs peripherals including phones, PCs, printers, laptops, and monitors in person or by phone.
  • Assists with physical PC workstation moves.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver's license in state of residence
  • A passion for helping non-technical end-users
  • Strong willingness to learn and take feedback
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Attention to detail and quality of work
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others and/or alone

Nice-to-haves

  • Troubleshooting knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10
  • Knowledge of basic hardware such as laptops, desktop computers, printers
  • Knowledge of Active Directory
  • Basic understanding of Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, and Anti-Malware solutions
  • Ability to configure network printers
  • Very basic understanding of routers/switches and wireless access points
