About the position

The Information Technology Project Manager at D.R. Horton, Inc. will lead and coordinate IT projects within the Financial Services IT Department. This role involves assessing project objectives, recommending technical strategies, and ensuring that projects deliver expected efficiency gains and strategic advantages. The Project Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to implement operational changes and manage all aspects of IT projects, including documentation, scheduling, budgeting, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of IT projects including feasibility studies, project execution, documentation, scheduling, budgeting, reporting, and training.
  • Coordinate plans and activities of the project team with that of other teams/groups within DHIFS/DR Horton to optimize working relationships and communications.
  • Provide management and direction for project activities, including setting project priorities and coordinating group activities.
  • Deliver progress reports to the CIO, team members, executive-level staff, and project stakeholders.
  • Provide updates on project objectives including scope, risk identification/mitigation, deliverables, timelines, and resources.
  • Track and resolve project issues; escalate unresolved issues at the project level.
  • Assist senior management and operational managers in prioritizing new development, enhancements, and maintenance requests.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to a department and its clients based on professional knowledge and experience.
  • Document and define business workflow processes.
  • Support and facilitate standardization within IT and across business operations.
  • Approve all systems requirements and associated documentation produced by the project team.
  • Make recommendations regarding installation standards for system design, programming, and database management.
  • Participate in hardware/software evaluations.
  • Conduct system design and/or code walk-through sessions as needed.
  • Develop acceptance test plans; coordinate QA and testing activities.
  • Coordinate software upgrades and the installation of new software products.
  • Coordinate change management activities for applications software and related documentation.
  • Conduct interviews and make recommendations for new hires and/or replacement personnel.
  • Direct education programs for the project team.
  • Perform performance evaluation/salary administration duties for personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or six to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three to five years of relevant operations and/or IT experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, project management, or related field is desired.
  • Ability to manage enterprise-wide, cross-functional projects and implement change across an organization.
  • Experienced in planning, developing, and rolling out large-scale systems.
  • Project management experience in the mortgage/banking and/or title industries is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and good communication skills - written and verbal, and good listening skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently to identify and resolve issues.
  • Ability to effectively frame issues and solutions for senior management.
  • Must be customer service oriented.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management certification (PMP or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies.
