About the position

The IT Support Specialist at Progress Rail Services Corp. is responsible for providing technical support to enhance operational efficiency. This role involves assisting customers with hardware and software issues, troubleshooting technical problems, and ensuring effective communication with end users through various support channels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for technical issues related to computer hardware and software.
  • Assist customers via phone calls and support management software.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues over the phone.
  • Prioritize and escalate production-critical issues to appropriate technical staff.
  • Complete domain maintenance and assist with web filter, internet, and firewall issues.
  • Perform entry-level application maintenance and network/server hardware configuration.
  • Prepare statistical and data reports, including usage trends and analysis.
  • Provide remote and on-site support to all staff.
  • Facilitate warranty claims and exchanges.
  • Accurately record customer support issues in the tracking system.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT preferred.
  • Basic networking experience with TCP/IP and Windows network.
  • Basic system administration experience, preferably with Windows.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft products, Linux, IBM, LN, and SAP.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of IT/computer experience preferred.
  • Basic Microsoft Office experience, including Word and Excel.
  • Prior technical support/call center experience.
  • CompTIA A+ Certified.
  • CompTIA Network Certified.
