About the position

Areté is seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator III to join our team in Northridge, CA. This position is crucial for supporting the day-to-day administrative operations of the IT department. The selected candidate will report directly to the regional IT Manager and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth functioning of our IT systems. This role requires a candidate who is eligible to obtain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI access and may involve passing a CI Polygraph. The IT Systems Administrator III will collaborate with other Cyber Security and IT staff members, travel occasionally, and provide after-hours support as needed. The position is exempt and non-supervisory, offering a full-time commitment to our mission of addressing complex security challenges. In this role, the IT Systems Administrator III will integrate, upgrade, and manage domain services and infrastructure systems within a Microsoft Windows Server environment. The candidate will also be responsible for configuring and administering various line of business applications, IT/Cyber Tools, and other software solutions. A key aspect of this position involves recommending improvements to the company's IT services and contributing to computer and network security through the use of various security-based products. Additionally, the administrator will manage data backup and restoration systems for the local facility, provide end-user support, maintain software licensing records, and assist in IT budget planning sessions. Mentoring other IT staff and leading technical projects will also be part of the responsibilities, along with other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Integrating, upgrading, and managing domain services and infrastructure systems in a Microsoft Windows Server environment.

  • Recommending improvements to the company's IT services.
  • Contributing to computer and network security using a variety of security-based products.

  • Providing end user support for local office.
  • Maintaining software licensing records and providing support to IT budget planning sessions.
  • Mentoring other IT staff and leading technical projects.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology related discipline and/or current, applicable industry-standard certifications (MCSA/Azure, CCNA, Security+, RHCSA).
  • Minimum of 5 years working as a Windows System Administrator, Linux Systems Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Security+CE or equivalent certification for DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II or higher within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency with domain services utilizing Windows Server including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, DFS, and DHCP.
  • Advanced IT troubleshooting skills and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work autonomously and on a team.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce technical documentation.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • System administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 or later.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Microsoft 365, Azure or AWS Administration, Point, Veeam Backup & Replication, or SCCM Configuration Manager.
  • Familiarity with classified information system Cyber Security tools and technologies (Nessus/ACAS, SCAP Compliance Checker, DISA STIGs).
  • Experience collaborating with Cyber Security professionals.
