About the position

The Itin Pre K Special Education Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year at Andrews Heights Elementary is responsible for providing appropriate instruction to elementary students, ensuring that they meet the learning objectives and standards for their grade level. This position requires the teacher to plan and implement a standards-based curriculum aligned with the West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives. The teacher will also be responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs, as well as integrating 21st Century technology skills into the classroom. In addition to core teaching responsibilities, the teacher will collaborate with special education students and teachers to create an inclusive learning environment. This may include planning and implementing designated co-curricular activities and programs such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips. The teacher will be accountable for individual student achievement and will need to plan personalized learning experiences for all students. Strong communication skills with students, parents, and peers are essential, as is a willingness to implement any additional programs designated by the principal for school improvement. Maintaining classroom control and fulfilling supervisory duties as assigned by the principal are also key responsibilities of this role. The position requires a valid teaching certificate that licenses the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels as outlined by West Virginia Code. A criminal background check is mandatory, and the teacher must meet the qualifications specified in the relevant state codes. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels as per WV Code §18A-3-2.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check as per WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10.
  • Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
