About The Position

Temple University's WRTI 90.1 FM is seeking a full-time Jazz Host and Producer to champion music as a vital cultural resource. The role involves executing on-air hosting and production for scheduled programs, creating content aligned with WRTI's mission and DEI agenda, and participating in fundraising initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in broadcasting, humanities, or related fields.
  • At least three (3) years on-air radio experience including music selection, scripting continuity breaks, and announcing jazz music.
  • An equivalent combination of jazz music education, performance, and broadcast experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of jazz music periods, composers, major works, and artists.
  • Experience with radio automation, playback, and other studio equipment (Wide Orbit preferred).
  • Experience with audio editing software (Adobe Audition preferred).
  • Experience with music scheduling software (Music Master preferred).
  • Experience conducting interviews and producing segments for broadcast.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Experience in on-air fundraising.
  • Experience hosting live remotes.

Nice To Haves

  • Social media experience.
  • Experience producing multimedia content.
  • Experience producing digital content for multiple platforms.
  • Familiarity and comfort with foreign languages (especially Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German).

Responsibilities

  • Execute essential functions of on-air host and producer for scheduled programs.
  • Create on-air and digital content supporting WRTI's music strategy.
  • Produce broadcast content for underwriting, fundraising, and promotions.
  • Participate in on-air fundraising and respond to listener correspondence.
  • Make station appearances for fundraising and promotions.
  • Act as project manager for broadcast initiatives and special projects.
  • Assist in music programming and scheduling as necessary.
  • Support the Associate GM and Jazz Music Director with best practices and training for hosts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
