About The Position

The Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS) Engineer at Leidos is responsible for designing, engineering, and implementing network solutions to support the Air Force's intranet operations. This role involves troubleshooting complex network issues, integrating JRSS systems into the AFINC architecture, and ensuring the functionality and compatibility of new technologies. The position requires a strong background in network engineering, particularly with Cisco devices, and the ability to manage diverse technical teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems, Science/Engineering/Math, or relevant experience in Information Technology.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible network engineering hands-on experience.
  • Experience with enterprise network management, focusing primarily on Cisco devices.
  • Installation, configuration, and support of network switches, routers, and wireless access points.
  • Experience with network topologies such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, GbE VLAN, and SONET.
  • Experience in implementing converged networks including VoIP, VTC, and QoS methods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching configurations, and firewall technologies.
  • Proven experience with LAN, WAN, and WLAN implementation and management.
  • Strong working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including Cisco products and solutions.
  • Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Cisco IOS platforms.
  • VoIP component configuration and deployment experience is a plus.
  • General knowledge of systems and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Excellent network hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to understand the organization's goals and objectives and implement solutions to meet those goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and IP subnetting.
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP).
  • Knowledge and experience with Juniper platform are a plus.
  • Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 5% of the year.

Responsibilities

  • Design, engineer, and implement associated projects.
  • Develop LAN/WAN network designs to accommodate a data center migration.
  • Demonstrate knowledge with content switching and load balancers.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues such as performance analysis, protocol problems, hardware failures, and WAN/LAN connectivity issues.
  • Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues using various internal and external resources.
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
  • Responsible for the full integration of the JRSS platform and associated support systems for the program.
  • Design, engineer, integrate, and operate the JRSS systems into AFINC architecture seamlessly.
  • Resolve network problems; operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators.
  • Monitor data or voice system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues. Activate scripts as alarms occur or issues surface.
  • Troubleshoot problems using scripts and standard, routine procedures.
  • Research issues to determine if problems may be resolved using predefined procedures.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance routines in accordance with standard procedures. Identify issues or problems and resolve as appropriate; Perform 1-4 problem determination.
