About the position

The Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide (CNA/HHA) position at ChristianaCare is designed for compassionate individuals who enjoy providing one-on-one care to patients in their homes. The role involves working under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist, delivering personalized care as outlined in the client's Plan of Care. This position is part-time and serves a diverse patient population, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients throughout Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Plan of Care developed by RN/Therapist.
• Adhere to infection control policies and HIPAA guidelines.
• Perform personal care, light housekeeping, and meal preparation as outlined in the Plan of Care.
• Accompany patients to physician appointments or clinics.
• Assist with simple exercise programs, application of prosthesis and braces, ambulation, and transfers as needed.
• Provide stimulation and encouragement towards independence and achieving the goals established by professional staff and the patient.
• Perform other patient care skills as indicated on the additional skills checklist.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of CNA or Home Health Aide training program of 75 hours or greater.
• Proof of a training competency evaluation program or completion of a renewal course if there has been a 24-month or greater gap in work as an aide.
• Ability to work independently in a client's home.
• Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
• Empathetic attitude toward the care of the sick.
• Ability to communicate effectively, including reading, writing, and following directions.
