About the position

i3 has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Electrical Engineer to support the Naval Research Laboratory, Tactical Electronic Warfare Division. The Tactical Electronic Warfare Division's mission is to protect the warfighter from emerging threats by advancing electronic warfare (EW) through research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) of current and future technologies. In this role, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing power distribution circuitry for radio frequency (RF) countermeasure systems. This position requires a collaborative approach, as the engineer will be a contributing team member in the research, design, development, testing, and analysis of offboard RF countermeasure systems. The engineer will also design and test power supplies and power distribution networks, support integration and verification testing in both laboratory and field environments, and generate technical reports documenting design and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design and test power supplies and power distribution networks.
  • Support integration and verification testing in laboratory and field environments.
  • Generate technical reports documenting design and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience.
  • Experience designing and testing digital or analog circuits.
  • Experience testing power supply circuitry and designing test fixtures for power distribution networks.
  • Experience with AC/DC conversion and DC/DC conversion.
  • Experience simulating circuit components using industry standard tools (LTSpice, Xilinx Power Estimator, etc.).
  • Experience with electronic test equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience.
  • Experience with printed circuit board layout.
  • Knowledge of different regulator types (linear/switching regulators) and the ability to perform tradeoffs (efficiency, noise, etc.).
  • Knowledge of power management circuitry (PMIC).
  • Experience writing technical reports.
