About the position

Transform technology into opportunity as a Junior Systems Administrator with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). In this role, you will be a critical component in ensuring the safety and security of our nation by utilizing your expertise to protect against various threats. As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will be at the forefront of innovation, playing a meaningful part in improving how agencies operate. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our intelligence customer in St. Louis, MO. As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining the workflows of an organization's computer systems. This includes the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems. You will work closely with both on-site and remote users to coordinate site visits and upgrades, provide on-site and remote resolution support for trouble calls, and deliver Tier 2/3 support for Unix/Windows workstations and servers, including web servers and network-attached storage devices. Your role will involve systems administration of desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks, ensuring that all systems are secure and operational. You will also provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems, managing system infrastructure and processes related to these systems. This includes day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices, as well as mobile devices. You will be tasked with isolating and resolving hardware and software problems, performing software installations and upgrades, and maintaining operational and configuration procedures. Your contributions will help ensure that systems are secure and compliant with established guidelines, ultimately supporting the mission of GDIT and its clients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an organization's computer systems' workflows and ensure reliable operation of computer systems.
  • Work closely with on-site and remote users to coordinate site visits and upgrades.
  • Provide on-site and remote resolution support for trouble calls.
  • Deliver Tier 2/3 support for Unix/Windows workstations and servers, including web servers and network-attached storage devices.
  • Administer desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks.
  • Monitor and manage account security, operating system installations, and local area system administration functions.
  • Support the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure processes.
  • Provide day-to-day operations support, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
  • Isolate and resolve hardware and software problems involving applications, operating systems, and communications infrastructure.
  • Install/load operating system and application software, and perform software installations and upgrades to Unix/Windows operating systems.
  • Create and follow procedures to maintain and manage multiple linked databases, ensuring data safety and integrity.
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance of assigned data center equipment.
  • Communicate and coordinate scheduled preventive maintenance windows with customers.
  • Collaborate on the development, administration, and testing of backup and recovery plans.
  • Ensure systems are secure to STIG guidelines using tools such as Retina and HBSS.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, and other standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Verify system availability with existing Enterprise tools.

Requirements

  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree in a related field.
  • 0-2 years of related experience in systems administration.
  • Must have Security+ certification or DoD 8570 Level II equivalent within 90 days of hire.
  • TS/SCI Clearance required and eligibility to obtain CI Poly.
  • Experience in UNIX, Windows, and/or Storage administration.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour calls and provide on-call support.
  • Ability to travel 0-20% to local area sites and other locations with similar architecture/footprint.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the imagery intelligence domain.
  • Ability to create and modify scripts in multiple disciplines on Windows, Linux, and Solaris systems.
  • Knowledge of the Customer's processes and procedures and of the Customer's production systems.
  • General knowledge of database administration and network administration.
  • Skills in one or more of the following: Windows Server, Red Hat, IRIX, Solaris, Sybase, Informix, SQL, and Imagery Production Chain.
