About the position

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking an experienced Nuclear Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Team that is focused on the carbon-free technologies such as DOE construction and support, & Small Modular Reactors. The Mechanical Engineer functions in a mid-level engineering capacity performs all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering. The engineer in this position must have an aptitude for practical engineering, a willingness to immerse one's self in the position and rapidly learn the business, ability to work with little supervision, have strong leadership skills, and be willing to travel periodically.

Responsibilities

  • Perform integrated engineering processes to fulfill project requirements and achieve target dates.
  • Author and review designs, specifications, analyses, and drawings in compliance with engineering principles and applicable standards.
  • Prepare and review design concept drawings for equipment using input from various technical disciplines.
  • Recognizes, defines, and resolves problems within assigned area.
  • Compliance with strict quality assurance standards and on time delivery.
  • Travel (less than 20% of time)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in design.
  • Knowledge, application and understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and capability for producing error-free documents.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering design practices and principles (e.g. interference checks, tolerance stack-ups, fits, GD&T).
  • Experience with using industry codes to develop equipment design.
  • Experience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings.
  • Experience in the preparation of P&ID, PFD, and General Arrangement drawings for skid mounted or permanent equipment packages.
