About the position

The Knowledge and Learning Manager for the Global Emergency Response Team at Mercy Corps is responsible for developing and implementing a learning and knowledge management system to enhance emergency response efforts. This role involves optimizing systems and processes, tracking performance indicators, and collaborating with various internal stakeholders to ensure effective learning and adaptation of best practices in humanitarian emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to organizational design changes to optimize performance and support new ways of working.
  • Ensure harmonized rollout of the Humanitarian Response Approach and allocate resources effectively.
  • Develop a common standard for emergency response learning in collaboration with ERT leadership and other teams.
  • Lead and facilitate learning activities such as after-action reviews and real-time evaluations.
  • Integrate lessons learned into response processes and procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Develop performance indicators and data collection systems for the ERT department.
  • Ensure collaboration between ERT and other departments for maximum impact.
  • Design and document team meetings and workshops to incorporate learning into decision-making.
  • Represent the ERT VP at key internal meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of program experience at an international NGO or relevant entity.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Experience working at field level and in a regional or global support function.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver cross-functional work plans.
  • Collaborative work style that builds strong relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Critical thinking skills and proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong facilitation skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and resourceful, able to multitask under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Arabic, Spanish, or French preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in humanitarian response or emergency management.
  • Familiarity with data management and knowledge management practices.
