About the position

The Knowledge Community Director at Wexford Science & Technology is responsible for leading the development and management of the Knowledge Community at the University of Maryland BioPark. This role involves executing signature programs, fostering engagement among university partners, tenants, and community leaders, and enhancing the quality of life in the BioPark through strategic communications. The position requires a blend of intellectual curiosity, strategic execution, and strong communication skills to effectively engage diverse stakeholders and implement impactful initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Wexford's innovation curator and super connector in the market.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy that strengthens the Wexford-University relationship.
  • Collaborate with Wexford and the UM BioPark to ensure consistency in outreach and engagement activities.
  • Curate outdoor activations that enhance the community experience.
  • Develop and manage the Innovation Programming Calendar for events and activities.
  • Design and implement community-focused initiatives to engage stakeholders.
  • Partner with local contractors to drive inclusive workforce development practices.
  • Collaborate with external organizations to foster partnerships that enhance community engagement.
  • Oversee the execution of Innovation Elements and community inclusion initiatives.
  • Maintain a room reservation system and an external-facing event calendar.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or demonstrated experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience working within a university or innovation district organization is a plus.
  • Proven experience in events and programming, community engagement, or project management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative initiatives.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of current trends in community design and experiential marketing.
  • Understanding of workforce development, contracting, and procurement practices.
