About the position

The position involves conducting detailed testing and validation of embedded systems and electronic components. The incumbent will develop and implement test plans, procedures, and scripts, documenting test results while providing analysis and recommendations. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the design, development, and debugging of prototype embedded systems, collaborating with engineers to create and test new hardware and firmware solutions, and assembling and testing circuit boards and embedded devices. The individual will also be responsible for maintaining and calibrating lab equipment to ensure accurate test results, organizing and managing lab inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards in the lab environment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and systems engineers, is essential, as is providing technical support and guidance on embedded systems projects. Participation in project planning and review meetings is also expected. Continuous improvement is a key aspect of this role, where the incumbent will identify opportunities for process enhancements in the lab environment, stay updated with the latest developments in embedded systems and testing methodologies, and propose and implement new tools and techniques to enhance lab efficiency and accuracy. The position may also involve conducting research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information and performing engineering tasks that are varied, with established deadlines that may be somewhat difficult in character. The individual will support projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects, generating sections of design specifications or complete specifications of less complex projects as needed. Using computer-assisted test methods, the incumbent will conduct laboratory investigations on equipment or systems, assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies, and perform a variety of engineering tasks and any other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 8 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering with at least 6 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctoral degree in engineering with at least 4 years of related engineering experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components.
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Effective planning and organizing skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools.
  • Well-developed leadership skills and ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad perspective.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with TTC Ware, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Experience in Flight Test Instrumentation.
  • Cyber Security certification.
  • Familiarity with schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, wire repair, block diagrams, and technical publications.
  • Knowledge of IRIG 106 Telemetry Standards & TTC hardware/software experience.
