About the position

The Lab Test NC Programmer III position at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah involves performing complex numerical control (NC) programming for 3 and 5 axis milling machines. The role requires a high level of proficiency in programming metal parts, specifically aluminum, Cres, and titanium, with a focus on thin wall and tight tolerance programming. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing engineering drawings and tool design drawings to determine optimal machining methods and material cut sizes. This position operates under minimal supervision and requires the ability to adapt to changing priorities and workloads to meet company needs. In this role, the programmer will interact with various stakeholders, including planners, tool designers, and customers, to finalize machining plans. They will develop cutter motion logic, select appropriate spindle speeds and feed rates, and verify cutter paths using Vericut software. Additionally, the programmer will create operator set-up sheets for numerical control machines and produce 2-D Catia tool drawings as needed. The position may also involve acting as a Team Leader, assigning tasks, maintaining schedules, and ensuring timely completion of departmental goals. The Lab Test NC Programmer III will also assist in training lower-level engineers and contribute to the formulation of Numerical Control policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of machining and drafting methods, and the ability to read and interpret complex blueprints are essential for success in this role. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in Catia modeling and drafting, as well as a proven track record of meeting company objectives and adhering to policies.
