About The Position

The Lab Testing Assistant plays a crucial role in the laboratory team by performing the collection, processing, and preparation of blood, body fluids, and other laboratory samples for testing and analysis. This position requires excellent customer service skills as the assistant interacts with patients, nurses, doctors, and other medical personnel. The role also involves utilizing computers and general office organizational skills to ensure efficient laboratory operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy training required; certification preferred.
• Computer keyboard entry experience.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
• Minimum of one year experience preferred.

• Training and/or experience in Phlebotomy.
• Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection and labeling.
• Instruct patients about proper sample collection procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care to all patient age groups.
• Process specimens and maintain accurate records.
• Use the Laboratory Information System to obtain and record data and issue results.
• Maintain laboratory equipment in proper working order.
• Follow and maintain competency on all standard operating procedures.
• Perform chain of custody collections.
