About the position

The Laboratory Scientist Lead in the EDM Department at OU Health is responsible for performing complex professional technical and analytical work in a medical laboratory setting. This role requires a high level of expertise and oversight, as the individual will have primary responsibility for a major function within their section. The Laboratory Scientist Lead will oversee the activities of personnel related to the function managed, ensuring that all testing within the section is performed accurately and efficiently. This includes setting up new methodologies, developing procedural protocols, writing procedures, and training laboratory personnel to maintain high standards of quality and compliance. In addition to these responsibilities, the Laboratory Scientist Lead will participate in performance improvement activities and support the laboratory in meeting all regulatory accreditation standards. This role requires effective monitoring and maintenance of compliance with hospital, federal, and state regulations in the area of assigned responsibility. The position reports to a supervisor or manager for the section and may involve performing other duties as assigned to support the overall function of the laboratory. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree or be a graduate of an MT program, along with at least two years of experience in a clinical laboratory. A current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association is required upon hire. The candidate should have a strong knowledge of medical technology, laboratory safety procedures, and the ability to work under stress in emergency situations. Good communication skills, computer knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with others are essential for ensuring quality patient care.

Responsibilities

Requirements
