About the position

IT@JH Client Technology Solutions (CTS) is seeking a LAN Administrator who will be responsible for organizing, scheduling, imaging, and executing workstation deployments for all departments supported by the team. This role involves ensuring that systems have all the necessary software, hardware, and physical setup to function effectively. The support will be provided at the East Baltimore campus and some satellite clinics. The LAN Administrator will perform routine PC setup, installation of peripheral equipment, software installation, and support for various software products and services. They will also be responsible for deploying service packs, hot fixes, and system updates, as well as testing changes to the environment. The LAN Administrator will assist with departmental-specific applications and interact with vendor application installations, acting as a strong liaison with customers and departments. The position requires fluency in imaging, supporting, installing software, and configuring both Windows and Mac operating systems, as approximately 90% of the systems are Windows-based, with the remaining 10% being OSX. The systems are utilized in office spaces as well as critical clinical areas, and the role will involve organizing large-scale deployments to minimize disruption. A good understanding of various specialty applications, such as MUSE, SAP, Epic, ComPAS, MethaSoft, and Pentax, is essential for proper configuration. The team supports around 7,000 workstations across various locations, including the primary East Baltimore campus and several other sites. Coordination with various teams is necessary to ensure the proper functionality of the systems and proper documentation. After one year of experience, the LAN Administrator will participate in an on-call rotation several times per year. The role requires critical thinking, the ability to manage multiple priorities, effective communication, and exemplary customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Two years of college coursework.
  • Two years of related experience in LAN administration or a similar role.
  • CompTIA A+ Technician certification.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities effectively and prioritize conflicting demands.
  • Ability to execute assigned project tasks within established schedules.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Sound documentation skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with imaging and supporting both Windows and Mac operating systems.
