About the position

The Land Technology Analyst position is a vital role within the Geographic Solutions & Services Department of Georgia Power Company. This position is primarily responsible for the implementation, training, and support of technology solutions specifically tailored for the Land Department. The core focus of this role is on enhancing, supporting, and training users on the Land Information Management System (LIMS), a GIS-based web product that manages the engineering, acquisition, management, and disposition of Georgia Power Company's land and land rights. The successful candidate will leverage their customer service skills and technical expertise, combined with a solid understanding of GPC's Real Estate business processes, to ensure that the support provided aligns with the immediate needs of users while adhering to the department's and company's goals and policies. In this role, the analyst will be expected to engage with various stakeholders to understand their missions and how they interact with the systems and equipment. They will identify opportunities for system enhancements to improve performance and will be responsible for installing and troubleshooting Land Systems, providing necessary training, and testing these systems on new equipment and operating systems. Acting as a liaison between the Land Department and the Southern Company Technology Organization, the analyst will assist in managing enterprise data and ensuring optimal data storage solutions are in place. Additionally, they will provide basic support for GIS systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Land Department's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the mission of all customers and how they interact with each other and their customers.
  • Identify ways to enhance systems and equipment to improve performance.
  • Install and troubleshoot Land Systems, providing training as needed.
  • Test Land Systems on new equipment and operating systems.
  • Act as a liaison for the Land Department with the Southern Company Technology Organization regarding technological needs.
  • Assist individuals and groups in managing enterprise data and optimal data storage solutions.
  • Provide basic support for GIS systems.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in Management Information Systems, Management, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Forestry, or other Land or Technology related field of study is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience, leadership ability, interpersonal skills, and effective communication skills.
  • Experience in resolving complex problems through research and analysis.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple business unit requests and ensuring goals and objectives are met.
  • Demonstrated experience in first line support of client server, web, and mobile applications (face to face, remote, telephonic).
  • Experience in analyzing data through complex queries and building custom dashboard reports and documents.
  • Experience with relational database design, administration, and support (e.g. SQL, Oracle, Access).
  • Experience with development of client server, web, and mobile applications.
  • Experience with scripting (VB Script, VBA, PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience with desktop and enterprise GIS, especially ESRI's suite of applications.
  • Experience with SharePoint 2010+, Office 365, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, along with iOS and Android mobile operating systems.
  • Knowledge of responsive web application programming.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, independently or under direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of real estate and land title principles is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a desire to take initiative and personal ownership of problems.
  • Must have a valid/current driver's license.
  • Must live within commuting distance of 755 Jefferson St. Atlanta, GA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of real estate and land title principles is a plus.
