About the position

The Launch Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development of assembly processes based on customer requirements, quality systems, financial investment, and labor plans. This role involves managing the implementation of new processes, selecting equipment to be purchased, and providing timing estimates. The engineer will resolve issues related to quality plans, product design, manufacturability, or build process steps, and participate in the adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency. Additionally, the engineer will consult on and oversee the selection and implementation of automation and robotics in assembly processes, managing activities using the Process Development System according to the developed ME timeline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed manufacturing plans for new programs that will require new equipment or retool of existing equipment.
  • Prepare all sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for any major outside tooling and equipment purchases.
  • Gather all relevant product information, production rates, and assembly requirements from customer contacts.
  • Assist launch team with training for equipment operators, providing reference and support resources.
  • Maintain process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Monitor and support plant with equipment installation and launch.
  • Review all sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for any major outside tooling and equipment purchases.
  • Work with PC&L team to optimize material flow to production line.
  • Understand Android operations (Sequencing/subassembly, shipping and receiving).
  • Be responsible for equipment certification and run-off, providing feedback and escalating any issues to leadership.
  • Ensure proper OEE.
  • Act as a liaison and coordinate with Plant team members to ensure that lessons learned, best practices, and plant goals are integrated into the new production process.
  • Coordinate program change requests.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering guidance and support to ensure that assembly processes, tooling, and equipment improve throughput, reduce scrap/rework, lower costs, and enhance quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineer to drive quality back into the design of assembly processes and equipment.
  • Promote health and safety in all phases of engineering and launch.
  • Maintain equipment records by filing documents and updating the equipment database.
  • Protect organization value by keeping information confidential.
  • Work well in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Effectively interact with, lead, and develop people.
  • Teach, lead, and continuously improve all areas of the business.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in assembly and/or manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of experience with APQP system.
  • Supervisory experience in the manufacturing field is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
