About the position

UOP Honeywell Engineering is seeking a Lead Chemical Engineer specializing in Pressure Relief Valves (PRV) to join our Engineering projects team. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse group of experienced engineers across various disciplines at our Des Plaines office, as well as with other global engineering offices. Your primary responsibility will be to support and develop engineering documents for our worldwide customers, ensuring that our projects meet both UOP and industry standards. As a PRV lead engineer, you will analyze pressure relief scenarios and review PRV relief loads for different equipment configurations and systems. You will be tasked with identifying the causes of overpressure events and detailing the scenarios that lead to these occurrences. It is crucial that you ensure all PRV project specifications comply with UOP and industry requirements, providing clarity and guidance on UOP practices to customers and evaluating any deviation requests they may have. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will maintain the PRV infrastructure documents and tools, develop relief analysis procedures, and coordinate the testing of tool updates. You will also be responsible for providing training classes to both UOP employees and customers, ensuring that knowledge is effectively shared across the organization. Furthermore, you will provide technical support to UOP Services regarding PRV issues in both new and operating units. This position involves minimal business travel, estimated at less than 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Support process technology teams by analyzing pressure relief scenarios and reviewing the PRV relief loads for various equipment configurations and systems
  • Identify causes of and scenario details for overpressure events
  • Ensure PRV project specifications comply with UOP and industry requirements
  • Provide answers to customer inquiries, clarifications of UOP practices, and evaluation of deviation requests
  • Maintain the PRV infrastructure documents and tools, develop relief analysis procedures, and coordinate testing of tool updates
  • Provide training classes to other UOP employees and to customers
  • Provide technical support to UOP Services on PRV issues in new and operating units

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 10 or more years of applicable industry experience
