About the position

The Lead Chemical Process Engineer at Tremco Construction Products Group plays a crucial role in ensuring safety, maintaining product quality, and enhancing process efficiency within a chemical production environment. This position is integral to promoting a LEAN culture and requires active involvement in on-floor operations, as well as leading significant projects related to process equipment. The engineer will strategize and innovate safety management, collaborating with shift supervisors to resolve high-level issues. In addition to safety management, the engineer will lead comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA), identifying and analyzing complex safety concerns while spearheading initiatives to mitigate these risks. The role also involves expert management of DAKOTA software for compliance, incident reporting, and safety management, ensuring that all safety protocols are adhered to. The Lead Chemical Process Engineer will champion the development and implementation of "standard work" practices, leading the LEAN culture within the organization. This includes overseeing Engineering Tier activities and accountability boards, as well as leading daily GEMBA Walks to enhance education and communication among staff. The engineer will drive productivity improvements by strategically eliminating non-value-added activities using advanced engineering principles. Furthermore, the engineer will ensure equipment efficiency at the highest levels, participate in the facility's Quality Improvement Council (QIC), and provide expert quality training to operators. They will lead and ensure the successful completion of high-impact process equipment projects, acting as a key member of the QIC to identify root causes and prevent future customer complaints.
