About The Position

The Lead Cloud Engineer at RapidScale is responsible for maintaining the overall health of managed cloud services within the Architecture team. This role focuses on supporting the development, growth, and stability of RapidScale's data centers, specializing in troubleshooting, documentation, and management of core Storage, Compute, and Virtualization platforms. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance and security while implementing architectural designs and updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field, or a master's degree and 4 years' experience, or 10 years' experience in a related field.
  • Proven level of expertise & competence with Infrastructure implementation, operations, monitoring & design.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of competency with managing technical projects in a high-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to work night or weekends as needed and on a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule.
  • Ability to apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and help develop multiple cloud environments within RapidScale's infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Virtual Network, Hypervisor, Backups, DR, and Monitoring).
  • Facilitate resolution of trouble tickets escalated to the Architecture team when necessary.
  • Execute initiatives to reduce failures, defects, and improve overall performance.
  • Document procedures and processes for use by other cloud operators.
  • Provide support for other Engineers and Architects on the team.
  • Work closely with Architects, Security, and Compliance to patch, address and mitigate vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements.
  • Implement Architecture designs and updates.
  • Ensure proper monitoring and alerting configuration of infrastructure components.
