Lead Data Scientist - Cost Estimator AI

About the position

The Analytics & Behavior Change team is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Lead Data Scientist to play a critical role in the development and enhancement of a cutting-edge healthcare cost estimation tool. This individual will lead a team of data scientists to build, refine, and deploy predictive models that accurately estimate the cost of healthcare services. The candidate will create tools that simplify the understanding of healthcare costs and member benefits. This tooling will empower members to make informed decisions, ultimately leading to better health outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis, along with a deep passion for improving healthcare outcomes and member experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of data scientists to develop and enhance predictive models for healthcare cost estimation.
• Build, refine, and deploy machine learning models in a production environment.
• Create tools to simplify the understanding of healthcare costs and member benefits.
• Anticipate and prevent roadblocks through the project lifecycle and drive resolution/mitigation.
• Communicate complex ideas effectively to various audiences.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data science, focusing on predictive modeling and machine learning.
• Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
• Expertise in statistical modeling techniques, including regression, classification, and time series analysis.
• Strong programming and data mining skills in Python and SQL.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools, including BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Cloud Composer.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with healthcare data, including claims data, provider data, and clinical data.
• Knowledge of healthcare economics and reimbursement methodologies.
• Experience with natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), and Generative AI.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
