The Lead Information Architect directs and/or leads business/enterprise architectural activities with a focus on the effective management of company information as strategic corporate assets. They work closely with business and technology leaders to understand Enterprise and line of business opportunity areas. They translate this understanding into broad data strategies and strategic initiatives that support the development of business data models, domains, and capabilities. In this capacity, the Lead Information Architect must maintain a keen understanding of Enterprise business and technical strategy roadmaps, goals, and success criteria. The Lead Information Architect has oversight of the design and development of Enterprise Data Models and associated domain definitions. They guide the activities of other Information Architects to ensure consistency of data models/designs across strategic and tactical programs, projects, and initiatives. With consideration of business requirements and consumption standards, they review and approve various visual imagery, models and artifacts that guide technical requirements for data infrastructure. Dependent upon the maturity of the supported business area, the Lead Information Architect will guide business leaders in the development of processes and organizational efficiency efforts that will facilitate the capture, flow, storage, and use of information to drive maximum business value. As such, the Lead Information Architect serves as a critical resource in the management of data and information as a strategic asset.
