About the position

Lockheed Martin is seeking an Instrumentation Operations Engineer to join our team, where your mission will be to integrate requirements and program new instrumentation data acquisition equipment. This role involves working with FTI fiber systems, analog and digital signal conditioning hardware during integration and flight tests. As an Instrumentation Operations Engineer, you will work independently or lead a team to execute project, schedule, and technical requirements to meet the goals of the test program. You will oversee the installation, checkout, and calibration of data systems to ensure that the collected data can be properly displayed, processed, and analyzed. Maintaining configuration control and mission capability of the instrumentation system, as well as all associated ground support equipment, will be a key responsibility. In this position, you will be responsible for the specification, selection, design, integration, operation, and maintenance of airborne data acquisition systems and their related components. This includes telemetry, flight test-specific hardware, or prototypes for flight test evaluation. You will support preflight, post-flight, and control room activities for all scheduled missions, interfacing with test operations, maintenance, and management to ensure all instrumentation requirements are coordinated and accounted for. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or with a team are essential to execute project, schedule, and technical requirements effectively. As a Technical Lead, your primary responsibilities will include delegating work, reviewing and monitoring work product quality and quantity, providing constructive feedback, and rapidly developing personnel to efficiently perform their tasks. You will provide on-the-job training and mentoring for team members, ensuring they have meaningful day-to-day tasking in support of the program performance plan. You will be accountable for the delivery of quality work products and ensure that relevant engineering processes are followed by the team. Additionally, you will facilitate knowledge continuity and transfer, develop succession plans, identify pipeline gaps, and provide real-time performance feedback.
