About the position

As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovative solutions that enhance safe living and improve quality of life. You will be part of a global team dedicated to addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges through advanced engineering and technology. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical expertise across a variety of projects and programs, ensuring compliance with UOP specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. You will serve as the main point of contact for external customers, helping to develop and define engineering processes in your area of expertise. This role also involves participating in the development of new business opportunities and product lines, contributing to the growth and success of the organization. In this position, you will support and supervise the activities of the Static Equipment group, which is responsible for design engineering, requisitioning, vendor drawing and calculation review, fabrication support, and inspection activities for various static equipment required for Equipment Product Lines. You will manage resource planning and provide direct supervision of contract service workers and/or purchased services for the Static Equipment group. Your leadership will extend to mentoring and coaching team members, ensuring they are well-equipped to execute project support effectively. You will be assigned as a team member to multiple contracts simultaneously, acting as the primary internal technical contact for all matters related to Reactors and their internals, Pressure vessels, Heat Exchangers, Tanks, and other static equipment on those contracts. Your role will require close collaboration with team members from various disciplines, including Process, Piping, Mechanical, CAD-design, and Project Management. You will be responsible for the design and detailed engineering of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks in accordance with international codes such as ASME Section VIII Div.- 1 & 2, PD 5500, TEMA, API 650, API 660, API 661, and API 663. Proficiency in design software such as Compress, PV Elite, Aspen (B-JAC), and HTRI is essential. You will also conduct thermal rating and mechanical design calculations for various types of heat exchangers used in refinery and petrochemical plants, demonstrating your capability to independently handle mechanical and thermal design tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on various projects and programs.
  • Support and supervise activities of the Static Equipment group.
  • Manage resource planning and direct supervision of contract service workers.
  • Assist with onboarding, mentorship, and coaching of team members.
  • Act as the prime internal technical contact for Reactors, Pressure vessels, Heat Exchangers, and Tanks.
  • Collaborate with team members from Process, Piping, Mechanical, CAD-design, and Project Management disciplines.
  • Design and detail engineering of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks according to international codes.
  • Conduct thermal rating and mechanical design calculations for heat exchangers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • 8 or more years of applicable industry experience.
  • 5 years of experience in static equipment design, specification, and/or manufacture of Pressure Vessels per ASME Section VIII D1 or D2.
  • Advanced knowledge of ASME Section VIII D1 requirements related to Vessel Design, Welding, PWHT, and Non-Destructive Examination.
  • Significant experience in Vessel Design software such as Compress or PV-Elite.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex and challenging problems.
  • Experience working in global teams across time zones.
