About The Position

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will oversee projects from inception to completion, collaborating with customers to define project parameters, developing innovative mechanical designs, and ensuring successful assembly and debugging of custom systems. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in mechanical engineering and strong project management skills, with a focus on automation and machine design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or 5+ years equivalent work experience ideally in automation.
  • 5+ years of SolidWorks experience.
  • Automation expertise.
  • Machine design experience.
  • Mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Project management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Good working knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic components is desirable, but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Project-focused over product-focused.
  • Great communication skills with internal employees (electrical, panel, software, production).

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design of Custom Systems (65%)
  • Design in SolidWorks.
  • Work with lead engineer to develop innovative mechanical designs.
  • Collaborate with customers to solve production problems.
  • Create assembly and detail drawings.
  • Design and detail custom machined components as well as completing bill of materials for part ordering.
  • Develop expertise in material and labor costs for strategic applications.
  • Participate in reviews of designs.
  • Perform system cycle time, load, and spatial analysis.
  • Develop system sequence of operation to meet production requirements.
  • Control and maintain mechanical design budgets and schedule.
  • Support Assembly and Debug (35%)
  • Validate parts are correct to design upon receipt and organize for assembly.
  • Work with machine shops and fabricators.
  • Support shop technicians during assembly.
  • Debug mechanisms after assembly.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and fabricators.
